Function Estradiol (E2), also spelled oestradiol, is an estrogen steroid hormone and the

major female sex hormone. It is involved in the regulation of the estrous and

menstrual female reproductive cycles and is also one of the indicators to monitor

follicular development and maturity. Examination of estradiol in blood and urine

is of certain value for the diagnosis of endocrine and gynecological diseases

such as sexual precocity and dysplasia.
